Reservations

The Reservations section serves as the hub for managing bookings and fare summaries. It is structured into three main subsections: Reservations, Analytics, and Settings.

 Add Reservation

Allows the creation of new reservations through a detailed form divided into four subsections:

          Routes and Trips

Captures journey details including date, time, mode, and station(s).

                  Journey Information

  • Journey Date: This is a compulsory field where the user must select the date for the travel. The calendar icon suggests that clicking on this field will bring up a calendar to pick a date from.

  • Journey Time: Similar to the Journey Date, this is where the user inputs the departure time. The presence of a clock icon indicates that clicking this field likely brings up a time selector.

  • Trip Mode: This dropdown menu is for selecting the type of trip. It’s a flexible field allowing users to define the nature of the journey, whether it's a one-way trip, a return trip, or some other kind of travel mode.

  • Station: A field designated for the departure point, which could be a bus station, train station, or another transit point. The interface facilitates searching for and selecting the location, and the number '1' alongside the search bar indicates this is the first station on the journey. The magnifying glass icon suggests a search functionality, while the plus icon is likely for adding additional stations if the journey includes multiple segments.

              Vehicle Type and Operator

  • Vehicle Type: This dropdown menu will enable the user to choose from different types of vehicles available for the trip. The options here would typically vary depending on the service provider and might include bus, train, private car, shuttle, etc.

  • Operator: This is another dropdown menu where the user selects who will be operating the journey. This could be a selection of different companies or drivers that the booking system is partnered with.

              Trip Information -

Fare Amount: This is a field where the user would input the cost of the trip. It's a numerical input field, indicated by the dollar sign, meant for entering the fare either manually or it might automatically populate based on the journey details provided above.

          Passengers

Inputs the number and information of passengers and items of luggage.

              No. of Passengers & Bags

  • Number of Adults: Dropdown to select how many adults will be traveling. This is typically used for passengers aged above a certain threshold, often 12 or 18 years and above.

  • Number of Children: Dropdown to select how many children will be traveling. This category often applies to passengers below the adult age range, which is typically from 2 years up to the adult age threshold.

  • Number of Bags: Dropdown to select the number of bags. This helps in planning for luggage capacity and may also be used for fare calculation if there are baggage fees.

  • No. of Infants (0 to 12 Months): Dropdown to select the number of infants, generally defined as passengers under 1 year of age. Airlines and other transport services often have special provisions and fares for infants.

               Passenger Information (Optional)

  • SL.: Stands for a serial number, which is a unique identifier for each passenger entry on the form.
  • Title: Dropdown to select the title of the passenger (e.g., Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., etc.), which is used for formal address and identification.
  • Full Name: Field for entering the passenger's full name.
  • Age: Field for entering the passenger's age, which could be used to verify the category of passenger (adult, child, or infant).

          Additional Notes

Records any pertinent notes and selectable add-on facilities.

  • Notes: This is a free-text field where the booking agent or customer can enter any additional information that might be relevant to the reservation. This could include special accommodation requests (e.g., wheelchair access, dietary restrictions), preferences (e.g., window seat, near the bathroom), or any other miscellaneous details that the service provider should be aware of.

  • Add-on Facilities: Below the notes section is a dropdown menu labeled "Select facilities," where customers can add extra services to their booking. These could be things like in-flight meals, extra legroom, pre-booking of parking spaces, fast-track boarding, travel insurance, or any other ancillary services that the provider offers. The fact that it’s a dropdown menu suggests that there is a predefined list of facilities that can be selected.

         Booking info

  • Booked From: This dropdown menu is for selecting the platform or location from which the reservation is being made. It could include options such as an online booking portal, a mobile app, a travel agency, a customer service center, or an in-person booking at a company office. This field helps the service provider track the performance of different booking channels and may also be relevant for understanding the customer journey and preferences.

  • Booked By: Here, the user inputs the name of the person who is making the reservation. This could be the passengers themselves or another individual, such as a travel agent or a family member. If the reservation is being made on behalf of someone else, it’s important to distinguish between the person traveling and the person who completed the booking process.

Settings

       Reservation Settings

From Field Type

  • This setting likely determines how the departure point ('From' location) for a reservation is selected by the user.

  • "Selected Locations" implies that the departure point is chosen from a pre-defined list of locations.

To Field Type

  • Similar to the 'From' field, this setting configures the destination point ('To' location) selection method.

  • "Generic Location Search" indicates a more flexible search function where users can search for any location as their destination.

Intermediate Station Field Type

  • This configuration determines how intermediate stops or stations are selected within the reservation.

  • "Fixed Route Stations" suggests that intermediate stops are restricted to predetermined stations along a fixed route.

Pre-Decided Locations

  • This section is likely for setting up and managing a list of locations that can be quickly accessed or suggested during the reservation process.

  • It contains a search bar for adding locations and fields for entering a "Display Name" and additional details for each location.

  • The plus icon implies the ability to add new locations to this list.

Below these settings, there are options to search for a location and add display names and addresses, which help populate the pre-decided locations database. Finally, there's a "Save Changes" button, which suggests that any adjustments made to the settings can be applied and saved for the system to use moving forward.
